Do I need a boating license to rent a jet ski in Marathon, FL?
Yes, if you were born on or after January 1, 1988. Florida law requires anyone born on or after this date to pass a boater safety exam to operate a jet ski or motorized boat. The temporary boater safety test can be taken right at our location upon arrival. The test costs $3, takes about 15-20 minutes, and upon passing, you’ll receive a temporary certificate that is valid for one year.
What is the minimum age to rent and operate a jet ski?
You must be at least 18 years old with a valid government-issued photo ID to sign the rental contract and waiver. While drivers can be as young as 16, they must be accompanied by a legal guardian who completes the rental documents. All operators, regardless of age, must meet the Florida Boating Certificate requirements if applicable.
